Show Us Your Do-It-Yourself Projects
It’s a good time for do-it-yourself projects. How-to information abounds—in print, online, at retailers, from friends—so that even the most novice do’ers can learn how to accomplish small, low-budget projects with a little inspiration and guidance.
With our new “I Did It Myself” department, Roanoke Valley HOME will showcase local projects that just may inspire you to “do it yourself.” Whether you’ve created a raised-bed vegetable garden, repainted a found treasure and placed it center stage in your living room, or completed a fabulous faux finish on your dining room wall, we want to know about it, and share it with our readers.
Need a little inspiration of your own to get started? One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to jazz things up around your home is with paint. Sherwin-Williams is conducting several workshops this fall that can give you the jumpstart you might need. Each workshop will feature an hour-long segment on how to pick the right color for your project, as well as a “Painting 101” refresher course—topics like how to pick the right paint for the job, tools you might need, and more. The color consultation segment runs from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from noon to 1 p.m.; the painting basics segment runs from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from 1 to 2 p.m. Visit your local Sherwin-Williams for these workshops on the following days: September 12, Salem and Forest; September 19, Marion and Lexington; September 26, Hardy and Roanoke Promenade; October 3, Danville and Radford. Happy DIY-ing!
